What functions does the rtSurvey mobile app support?2020-04-29T08:20:32+00:00

Our mobile app was created to increase transparency and efficiency during data collection by replacing paper forms. The app supports a wide range of question & answer functions and is designed to work well without network connectivity. Interviewers and enumerators will be able to collect data by using our app during interviews or surveys with respondents. Users can work through prompts and save submissions at any point. Finalized records can be sent to our server, rtServer. 

The rtSurvey app supports location, audio, images, video, barcodes, signatures, multiple-choice, free text, and numeric answers. Additional features include: real-time chat, quality assurance checking, real-time report viewing, survey maps, note-taking, and etc. 

The app is available on both Android and iOS platforms. 

 

How do I upload e-forms onto the server?2020-04-29T08:19:18+00:00

The Business User (survey administrator) will have access to rtSurvey Server (“rtServer”). The server will allow you to perform all your needed operations, including the first step of uploading forms. 

There are generally two types of form files: 

  • The “Form Def” file is an Excel file that contains the main questionnaire (XLS, XLSX, XML format), which should be coded in XLSForm format.
  • Media files are image/audio/video files, that are additional content files for the man questionnaire (JPG, PNG, MP3, MP4 format)

In the sidebar menu, select “Setting Up” and you will be able to upload your forms directly. There are options to create Form Families if forms belong to the same group. Once you declare your forms, the last step is to click Upload. For more information, see our Documents page. 

Do I need to code my surveys directly in XML format?2020-04-29T08:18:42+00:00

No, our system will take care of that for you! We provide our users with XLSForm templates to develop simple and complex forms—grid layouts, search functions over multiple databases, and etc. Using our Excel-based form templates, you can upload forms to rtServer and let our system handle the conversion to XML format.

How is rtSurvey different from other computer-assisted personal interview (CAPI) software and apps?2020-04-29T08:18:05+00:00

rtSurvey was built with CAPI efficiency in mind. Our software includes many tools needed to conduct offline long-form surveys, such as:

  • Built-in camera
  • Built-in voice recorder 
  • QR scanner to scan/decode QR codes or create QR codes in a form
  • Messaging feature to chat with team members in real-time
  • R server to run analytics completely offline

Yes, rtSurvey has offline data collection and analytics features. However, you will need access to the Internet to upload completed forms onto the server.

You can use browsers (Microsoft Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc.) on any desktop or laptop computer to access www.rtsurvey.com

The rtSurvey app works seamlessly on both iOS and Android devices. You can complete forms uploaded on your rtSurvey account through your device’s web browser or the rtSurvey mobile/tablet application. You can download the rtSurvey app through the App Store (iOS devices) or Google Play (Android devices).

You can create survey questions in any language you like. You can even create surveys with multiple language options. 

However, rtSurvey’s system interface currently offers English and Vietnamese.

The domain administrator may have granted or restricted your access to certain features. Please contact your domain administrator for more details on your level of access to rtSurvey features.

Your account is uniquely linked to the first device you log into. You will need the Change-Device Code in order to log into your account from another device. Please contact your domain administrator for your account’s Change-Device Code. If you do not know who your domain administrator is, please contact us

The Business User (the person in charge of the domain account with rtSurvey) should have the Project Code. If you do not know who your domain administrator is, please contact us

Why do I need a Project Code to log into my account on the rtSurvey app?2020-04-29T08:05:45+00:00

Each user account is uniquely created under and linked to a Project Code. Logging into the app with a project code will help the server easily retrieve your information.

What are the different accounts within rtSurvey?2020-04-29T08:10:42+00:00

We have two types of accounts: the Business Account and the Member Account.

The Business Account is the domain administrator; that is, the person who has a direct account with rtSurvey and is in charge of the domain (example: domain.rtsurvey.com). This user has access to ALL rtSurvey features in the plan, including creating and monitoring Member Accounts, establishing hierarchies, granting access to certain features, creating/uploading surveys, etc. 

The Member Account is an account created by the Business Account (the domain administrator). The Member Account is tied to the Business Account’s domain and has limited access to certain features, depending on the level of access granted by the Business Account. The Member Account can only sign in from the domain’s login page. 

 

Can I use my student plan to complete schoolwork or as part of my job/internship?2020-04-29T08:04:03+00:00

Yes, we highly encourage you to use rtSurvey and explore all of the features as part of your schoolwork, job, or internship!

Yes, you can cancel your subscription at any time. You will be able to continue using your plan you paid for until it expires.

Yes, you can get an extension of 7 days. All we ask is that you complete our customer satisfaction survey at the end of your trial so we can incorporate your feedback and improve your experience.

No, we do not ask for your credit card information when you sign up for a trial plan. If you want to continue using rtSurvey, you will need to input your credit card information to subscribe to one of our plans.

rtSurvey App’s size is bigger than other CAPI apps because it includes many tools needed for survey works, while other CAPI apps do not, such as:

  • Camera app so you can picture and videos without installing a separate camera app
  • Voice recorder app so you can record audios
  • QR scanner app so you can scan to decode QR codes and even create QR codes in a form
  • Messasing app so you can chat in real-time
  • It even includes R server so you can run analytics completely off-line
Do I have to sign up for multiple cloud systems to run a survey that has multiple independent teams?2019-03-23T07:00:29+00:00

Your situation may look like this:

You have a survey that has 5 different questionnaires. You have to separate the whole team into 3 different sub-teams. Each of the sub-teams will be responsible for a different set of questionnaires.

Unlike other CAPI, rtSurvey allows you to create as many teams (we call it User Role) as you want. For each team you have created, you can assign any forms to the team as you want. rtSurvey allows you to have all the data in one single space  while keeping the ability to create independent partitions for different teams.
